So tell us about your business

I’m Phil, and I run Fullerton House Cleaning and Maid Service which is a house cleaning service located in Fullerton, but we serve all of Orange County. We run a good business, and enjoy serving our local community by making houses, condos, apartments, and even office, sparkling clean!

When did it start? What year?

Phil: I started officially in early 2019. I was able to team up with a buddy of mine and we got the ball rolling.

What was it that made you want to start this business?

Phil: I was honestly just really fed up with the existing cleaning services out there. They either take too long, don't call you back, are too expensive, don't speak english, or some other random problem. Why can't you just find a good business, you know? I wondered that, and wanted to start a solution for it.

What was the toughest thing you went through when you got started?

Phil: Probably just getting the word out about us. There are many marketing channels out there, both online and offline, but finding the ones that will move you and your business forward is the hard part. We settled on Social Media to start, and for starting out, it did pretty well for us. So overall, hardest part is finding your first dozen or so customers.

If you had to start over from day 1 again, what would you do differently and why?

Phil: I'd probably outsource more of my business right from the start. remove myself from the small stuff to focus on generating revenue.

What is the toughest part of running a business in 2019?

Phil: Hiring is always tough. People are difficult to manage, and cleaning houses can be tough work, so it's hard to find a good balance, but that's why we pay well. 

If a customer was to choose your business, over 3 others, why should they try you?

Phil: I’d say it's because we speak english, we're on time, and we do great work.

What is the #1 way you've been bringing in new customers?

Phil: We’ve mainly been acquiring new clients through word of mouth and referrals, along with online marketing.

Has the internet played a large part in your business?

Phil: It certainly has, but mainly because we do something about it. A lot of people wait for it to come to them, but we actively buy ads to increase awareness.
